What's in a name?
My first name stems from the wife of the Dutch painter Rembrand; Saskia. Born in a catholic family with two grandmothers named Maria, I received my middle baptism name. Finally Kreutzer is a last name which sounds German; our family seems to originate from Austria, where even coins were found with this name. As I grew up I heard my family Dutchize the sound of 'kroitser' into 'kreutser' or even 'kruitser'. I also listen to 'Sas' as a common nick name for some friends. During my 5 year stay in Mexico people called me Sacha. In Niger, local colleagues changed my name into Sa'dia. We get different names during our life time which have different meaning for us and bring up a variety of associations. How do your names resonate with you?
